2022 Registration

Registration for the 2022 Season

AFWC was formed in 1993 and has been active for over 28 years. It is a volunteer and nonprofit organization. All board members and coaches volunteer their time, talent, and effort. Our pre-season practice begins in January and our main season practices begins in February. Tournaments typically begin in March. The State Championships are held in May. We a volunteer driven organization and highly encourage parent participation. Parent with minimal knowledge of wrestling can shadow a coach and learn as we go to assist with wrestling  practice. AFWC members range from age 4 to 18. AFWC is extremely committed to the children.

AFWC motto:  “Building Champions for Life”

We hope you will join us for the 2022 Season!!

  • The AFWC main season registration fee for 2022 is $200.
  • Weekly tournaments are hosted by different wrestling clubs. Tournaments fees are usually $30 per wrestler per style.  Tournament fees are non-refundable. Fees are paid to AFWC when you register for each tournament. Tournaments are held in Anchorage, Sitka, Kodiak, Wasilla, Big Lake, Fairbanks, Soldotna, and Nikiski.  Expenses for these trips; to include, travel, lodging, and meals are paid by the wrestler.
  • Wrestlers are required to wear wrestling shoes.  You can sometimes purchase these at one of the used sporting goods stores or buy new ones.  We suggest that you don't purchase the first pair “online” as they fit differently than other shoes.  Headgear is required for Schoolboy age (14 and younger). Kneepads are optional. Headgear and kneepads are also the wrestler's responsibility. Singlets are required for tournaments and are also not included in the registration fees. Top and bottom mouth guards are required for wrestlers with braces.
  • We have been at Mears Middle School for practices the past 14 years and will hold our practices there for the 2022 season.  We typically practice 3-4 nights per week.
  • We have several coaches (some are “Bronze” Certified), some who just love to coach, some who are Dads, and some who were wrestlers. All are committed to the sport of wrestling and to providing the best learning experience for our wrestlers.
  • Our wrestlers learn to feel more confident, positive, and responsible. They learn respect and good sportsmanship. Everything they learn through wrestling will carry over into other sports, school, and other areas of their lives.
  • We are very proud of our 1st place finishes in the AUSAW State Tournament for 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014.
  • Please check the website periodically for updated information. Thanks for your interest.
